“Tell your children about it, and let your children tell theirs, and their children, the next generation.” Joel 1:3

We hope you had a pleasant and relaxing summer.

As life begins to rev up again, with our children returning to school, car pools, and vacations but a fading memory, that can only mean one thing, the High Holy Days are just around the corner. Where has the time gone?

Over the summer period, our Men’s Club Board ran a tennis doubles event on Sunday, August 8th and has been planning our upcoming season’s activities.

Our sports agenda includes on-going Sunday morning basketball under the direction of Chet Greenspan and tickets to the Islanders in the autumn.

Other upcoming events include the appearance (finally) of Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice (soon after the November election) who will speak on topics of local relevance to us. If there is a specific topic you would like her to address, please let me know. My contact information appears below.

Don’t forget our first Monday of the month sponsorship of Minyan with our bagel and lox breakfast or our Tefillin workshop later in the Fall. Please check your green sheets for further information on any of these and other upcoming events.

Finally, I have once again taken the responsibility for recruiting and directing the team of ushers for the upcoming High Holy Day services. The synagogue could really use your help. If you would like to lend a hand for a good cause, please contact me. I promise to work out a schedule that does not interfere with your family responsibilities. I can be reached by email or by phone (921-3611).

We look forward to your support of our upcoming activities and thoughts about other events you would like to see planned.

L’ Shanah Tovah. May it be a good and sweet year for us all.
